Galatians 1

Reflect
It’s so interesting to read Paul’s own account of his conversion and enthusiasm for sharing the Gospel as he begins his letter to the Galatians, but the verse that is jumping out at me is verse 10: “Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of God.” This verse has caused me to take a good look at my own motives for doing the things that I do. Why do I serve in different ways, or treat people certain ways, or do certain things? Is it so I can manage people’s impressions of me? Am I hoping people will look at me favourably, or think that I’m a good person? Or is my sole motivation to serve God with the gifts that He’s given me? If I’m honest, there are definitely times that I am selfishly motivated; I don’t always get this one right, that’s for sure.

What would it look like for us to be totally motivated by love and service for God today? How would it change our priorities and things that we make time for today?
