Devotional Guide for Thursday, May 26

Ephesians 1:15-23

 Reflect

When is the last time you received an encouragement note?  I remember in Bible college we used to have blank encouragement notes that we could write on and put in peoples’ mailboxes.  Everyone would check their boxes several times a day to see if they had gotten an encouragement note.  It’s interesting how powerful such a small thing--an encouraging word--can be in our day/week/month.  This passage is an encouragement note to those of us who are followers of Jesus Christ.  Paul is reminding us that God’s Spirit will continually give wisdom and revelation for life and understanding.  The gift of the Holy Spirit is not a one-time only gift. It is a gift that continually gives to us, and should be an encouragement to us each day.

How has God encouraged you this week?  Who could you be an encouragement to this week?

Pray

  • Pray for all of our small group leaders and coaches.
  • Pray for our Pastoral Care Pastors, Sharon Harewood and Christine Okken.

Pray for our NAB missionary of the week, Pastor George Kirov, Bulgarian Christian Church of Chicago. Pray for the outreach and the ministries of this church that reaches and disciples those within the Bulgarian community in the Chicago area. The largest Bulgarian immigrant population in the world calls Chicago home. The Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria estimates there are close to 100,000 Bulgarian immigrants living in this urban area, with most having arrived in the last fifteen years. Pray that many would find Jesus through the ministry of this church.
