Devotional Guide for Saturday, December 8

Luke 1:26-38

Reflect
There are two fascinating statements in this passage that are total game changers. First, after the angel tells Mary about all that will be, he says, “For nothing is impossible with God.” After what would probably be received as shocking news, the angel assures Mary that everything will be as he says because she can trust in God to make it happen. I’m not sure if there’s a situation in your life that feels impossible right now, but we can trust in the God who desires good for us, and is able to do more than we could imagine. The second statement that stands out to me is Mary’s response to the angel’s news. She says, “I am the Lord’s servant… May it be to me as you have said.” Even though the news she receives goes against anything that Mary would expect could happen, she acknowledges her obedience and submission to the God that can make the impossible possible. Her faith in God is her strength, and her priority.
