John 4:27-38
Reflect
A few weeks ago, I was sitting around a table with friends during lunch and we got on the topic of our favourite meals. There were a number of different suggestions: roast beef with mashed potatoes and Yorkshire pudding is my preferred meal. When we eat our favourite foods they often, but not always, provide for a few of our needs. First of all, our food nourishes us. It delivers fuel to our body so that it can keep going. Secondly, when we talk about favourite foods, we also derive some pleasure from food. We enjoy eating the mashed potatoes with the divot in them for the pool of gravy (is your mouth watering?). Jesus talks about how doing the will of God the Father is food to Him. One might assume that, just like the benefits of physical food is to his body, the benefit of this soul food would nourish and provide pleasure on a spiritual level.

Are you feeding your soul? Are you feasting on the delicacies offered by God through walking in obedience to His will? Psalm 34:8 challenges us to taste and see that the Lord is good. Grab your knife and fork and dig in to what He has on the menu.
