John 6:1-15

Reflect
What would it look like if we were more open to being surprised by Jesus? In this story in the Gospel of John, Jesus asks the disciples a question about feeding all the people that were gathering, and (as would I) they try to find a logical, possible solution, but only run into problems. It seems impossible to be able to feed all who gathered there that day. Thankfully, Andrew finds a boy with a small amount of food and brings it to Jesus’ attention. Even though Andrew doesn’t think his suggestion is a solution to the problem, he offers Jesus what he has. From there, Jesus takes it and surprises everyone.

Apply
We spend a lot of time trying to find ways to fix our situations ourselves. Instead of trying to fix all our problems, maybe Jesus wants us to offer Him what we have and be open to Him surprising us with what He can do. What do you have to offer Jesus today? Maybe He’ll surprise you with what He can do with it.
