Devotional Guide for Wednesday, April 24

Luke 24:36-49

Reflect
One would think that the Lord’s phrase, “Peace be with you” would bring comfort and healing. That was not the reaction of the first disciples! Why? Because the ramifications of Jesus being alive were tremendous, and there could be no way that their lives would ever be the same. Jesus doesn’t provide powerful Good Friday and Easter Sunday services just so we can go about our lives without any significant change. Rather, He ‘opens our minds to understand’. Two months ago, I delivered a sermon focusing on missions. Shockingly, I’ve had a few people insist that the days of going to other countries is over. The fact is, 90% of the people living in the 10/40 window are unevangelized. Many have never heard the gospel. They either have no Christians or not enough of a Christian movement to embrace them. If the message of ‘repentance and forgiveness’ through Jesus is to reach them, people must be sent “to all nations” (v47). Hear Jesus promise, “Peace be with you”, and then consider how you will increasingly be involved in having the unreached also hear that dear promise.

What will you do in the next few days to help fulfil the prophesy that God will be worshipped by “a great multitude that no one could count from every nation, tribe, people and language”?
