Devotional Guide for Friday, May 17

Psalm 27

Reflect
While Pastor Daunavan is away on sabbatical, some of our worship leaders will be writing his devotional guide. Each one of these individuals is profoundly gifted and is excited to share a little bit of their hearts with you in addition to what they share on Sunday mornings.

What is your one thing? What is your greatest pursuit? Over everything else? What do you seek? In verse 4, David tells us what his greatest pursuit is: to dwell in Gods presence all the days of his life. Is that our greatest pursuit? I think we can all agree that we want it to be. God has commanded us to seek His face; to seek first His kingdom and righteousness. In response, David’s heart says, “yes, I will seek Your face” (v8). Notice David specifically says, “my heart says”. That is because our hearts are literally made for closeness with God. They will say that. Our hearts do say, “I will seek Your face, Lord”. We just need to align our mind/will with the truest desire of our hearts. To seek Him first, as our one thing.
