Psalm 30

Reflect
Rescue stories are often filled with high drama and danger.  We get caught up in the unfolding story.  We find it hard to forget stories like the 33 Chilean miners who were saved after being trapped for 69 days 2,300 feet underground.  Or more recently, the Thai soccer team that was freed from a flooded cave after close to a month underground.  These individuals have a powerful story of being freed from circumstances they were not able to get themselves out of.   In Psalm 30 David shares his story of God rescuing him from the oppression of his enemies.  In all these stories, credit and praise go to the one(s) who did the saving.

Apply
David’s testimony encourages us to think of our own rescue.  Perhaps we have never been lost underground, but we all have been lost in sin.  Our story of God’s salvation may inspire others to reach out and grab the hand of Jesus to lift them out of a situation they are unable to free themselves from.  Our God is worthy of worship and praise; the story of how He has freed us is a story worth telling.  Have you shared your story with anyone lately?
