Psalm 34
Reflect
This is a very powerful psalm which was written at a very disturbing time in King David’s life. During all the dreadful complexities in his life, he was still able to point us to the truth that sustains through every storm. “Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!”(v8) To be blessed is to receive the projection of goodness which the LORD gives. Earlier today, a young mother in our congregation went to the doctor to receive the results of a mammogram. Prior to going, she and I spoke of all the areas in her life that she has received God’s projection of goodness. They included her husband and family, warm hugs and support from loved ones, summers at the lake in front of a warm fire, and the bursting of summer blooms. Her resolve to intentionally see the blessings of the LORD had a great impact on how she dealt with the shadows of life.

How are you tasting of the LORD? Fast on anxiety and uncertainty; feast not only on His blessings (though they are delicious), but ‘taste’ of the LORD! How are you daily being satisfied ultimately by intimacy with the LORD?
