Preparation for Sunday, May 26

Acts 16:11-15

Reflect
Today, as Pastor Lyle continues his series in the book of Acts, we will look at how Paul started his ministry in Acts.  It’s interesting that Paul didn’t first go to a synagogue, which was his usual practice.  The reasonable inference is that there was no synagogue.  Philippi was a city with seemingly almost no awareness of the true God.  So, where does Paul start?  How do we see God work in this place that is seemingly so far removed from truth?  The perspectives we get from this passage speak to our own desire to see the truth of God take hold in the lives of people in our culture.

Apply

  • Though signs of the true God may have been visibly absent in Philippi, how does this passage show that He was very much present and active? How does this encourage you?
  • After listening to this morning’s message, how do you believe God is asking you to respond?
  • Ask God to work in the hearts of all who will be attending our services today.
