Devotional Guide for Wed., June 19

Psalm 102

Reflect
Don’t you love the suspense of verses 1-11? Most good stories have to first reveal the issues or problems. Here the Psalmist does it so well. Things are not good. Then the shift comes in verse 12 - “BUT” - ‘the rest of the story’ - “You oh LORD!” Then the writer speaks out truths about God: some of His attributes, a little history lesson, as well as his hope for a better day.
Just like this writer, our lives have ups and downs. Still there is a “BUT” for us in our story as well. When we experience difficult times, let us look up and acknowledge the truth of who God is! Ask Holy Spirit to remind you of the way God has been faithful in the past. Then rest in hope for the next moment.

Apply
Take some time to write out your heartbreak today. Then write out and remind yourself who God is! As you write this down, there may be others you can share it with and encourage them to “tell of the Name of the Lord...and His praise...to serve the Lord” as well.
