Isaiah 50
Reflect
Think through Biblical characters who were riddled with shame: a woman that had to come to the well at midday; a king that would not be satisfied with his own wives; a woman whose bleeding made her desperate, etc. Each of these people tried to hide their shame. Why? Because they also struggled with pride. Pride complicates the shame even more as it takes the shame undercover. Shame, pride, hiding. Contrast that with the servant in v 7 who knows he will not be put to shame. There is no hiding with him because he meekly allows the LORD God to help him (vv7,9).
Apply
What is hiding deep within your closet, in the dark where there is no light (v10)? How can you take another step forward in your humble trust in the LORD to provide the Light that will guide you? How are you engaging with the people close to you who are hiding their shame with the distractions of life (careers, screens, holidays, meals, etc)? How will you go to serve others today in a manner that draws them to the freedom that is found in Jesus Christ?
