Isaiah 53
Reflect
It’s so easy for us to take for granted the significance of what Jesus did for us on the cross, and the sacrifice that He went through so that we could be made free. Verse 5 of this chapter is a verse that is well known, and every time I read it I am struck and humbled. It says, “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.”
All of the things I deserve, He took upon Himself. The blessings that He earned, I get to receive. There’s nothing about this that feels fair in any of these verses, and it’s even hard to know what to say in response. “Thanks” seems too simple, and vowing to live my life perfectly is impossible. All I have left is to worship, because He is so very worthy of my worship.
