Preparation for Sunday, August 18

Colossians 3:12-4:6

Reflect
We live in a world and culture that lives in a few different paradoxes. We are busy but waste so much time; we are connected but so lonely; we care about our friends who don’t know Jesus but feel like we don’t have much to give them. Left unchecked, these realities form us in a way that may make it very difficult to conform to the invitation to be active participants in God’s Kingdom. In the book of Colossians, after describing our identity in Christ and what we have received through Him, Paul makes it clear that there is a context from which we live out this identity: in relationship. Today Pastor Daunavan will be speaking on “Making Space for Others” and encouraging us to embrace a lifestyle marked by commitment to deep relationships, active participation in our church community, and redemptive participation in places where we represent Jesus. This invitation is given to us in Colossians 3 and 4, so take some time to prepare your hearts by reading through this passage and meditating on the words. Allow it to prepare your heart for today’s message and spur you on to actively ‘make space for others’ in your everyday life.
