Philippians 2:1-4
Reflect
I really enjoy live classical music with all the different instruments of an orchestra. When an orchestra plays, they don’t all play the same notes, but they do all play in tune with each other.
If you have ever attended the symphony you may remember how the musicians all play a note before the conductor enters the stage. This is how the orchestra tunes their instruments. The concertmaster, who is the first chair violinist, instructs the oboe to play an A at least three times. With that A the different sections of brass, woodwinds and strings will all make sure that they are in tune with each other. Then the conductor enters the stage and the music will begin. If the orchestra does not tune together the music will not be as the composer or the conductor desires.
Apply
When we are united with Christ and we are all in tune with His heart, we can play the parts that God has called us to, and together we will create a beautiful work that displays the glory of God. This harmonious life is the result when we let go of our need to put ourselves above everyone else and we let Christ direct us together.
