Colossians 3:15-17
Reflect
Singing songs is usually a pretty major aspect of our Sunday morning services, and we see in this passage and throughout Scripture that singing as a form of worship has been a part of the people of God’s lives for a long, long time. Paul writes here that it’s important to have the word of Christ dwelling in us as we sing these songs to God.
How often do you take time to really look at and understand the words of the songs we sing in church? You’ll notice that frequently the lyrics of these songs come straight out of Scripture, often from the Psalms. The worship leaders take great care to make sure the songs we’re singing represent a theology that is Biblically supported. This is so important because the songs we sing and the words we say have an impact on our theology and on how we live out our faith.
Paul’s encouragement here is for each of us to have the Word of Christ deeply in us, so all that we do is filled with His grace and love.
