Psalm 100

Reflect

This past month our older son’s ball hockey team won the gold medal in their division.  When the clock finally hit zero to announce the end of the game, the boys and the fans erupted in celebration.  It was a great moment to be a part of.  Today’s psalm calls us to praise God with shouts of joy and to worship the Lord with gladness!  How silly would it have looked if the team would have just quietly and somberly walked off the bench and headed to the locker room after winning the gold medal.  Even the opposing team would have found that strange.  Yet how often do we respond to God without shouts of joy, thanksgiving or praises?  As you start your day, is it filled with praises for God?  How about as you end your day? Have you given thanks for the LORD’s goodness?  Verses 3 and 5 remind us WHY God is worthy of praise.

As you reflect on today’s passage, why not write out what you are praising God for.

Pray

  • Pray for all of our small group leaders and coaches.
  • Pray for our Pastoral Care Pastors, Sharon Harewood and Christine Okken.

Pray for our NAB missionary of the week, Stuart Streeter, Disciples Church, Folsom, California. Pastor Stu began Disciples Church in 2009, and it has since thrived. They moved into a new building in 2014 and started having two Sunday services last year. The church also travels to Guatemala twice a year. Pray for those who are traveling to Guatemala this week to work in the largest slum in Central America, La Limonada. They will be partnering with three different ministries while there. Ask God to use them to show love to the people in that community.
