Reflect
Today’s psalm presents us with a bit of a different idea: the importance of integrity. David is committing to the LORD his desire for his ‘house’ to be a place of integrity: “I will walk with integrity of heart within my house.” The latter part of this psalm makes it clear that, as the king of Israel, David wants to be sure that he only makes time for those who walk in integrity. I have been reading a really good book on integrity recently. One of the quotes that has really resonated with me is “Integrity! A loving response to the holiness of God! A joy-filled heart motivation to live true to the revealed character of our all-sufficient, all-perfect, all-loving God!” (from “Integrity: Character of the Kingdom” by Sean Feucht). Because of who God is, we want all of our lives to reflect His character. This is the heart of integrity, that we pursue to live this way whether in the spotlight or in private. David wanted his kingdom and leadership to reflect God, and the way this was going to happen was by making integrity a mandatory characteristic for himself and those he associated with. How is your life one of integrity? What steps may you need to take to embody this radical level of integrity?
