Mark 11:1-11

Reflect

“The Triumphal Entry” is the title my Bible gives this passage.  Jesus is entering Jerusalem for the last time; and for the first time, Jesus allows His followers to adorn Him with praise. The people are shouting “Hosanna!”, and “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”  There is a lot of joy and celebration from the people as Jesus enters Jerusalem.  We don’t know if all of the people shouting were those who had been following Jesus for some time, or if they just happened to be near Jesus when He began entering the city and they got caught up in the celebration of the moment.  It is hard to imagine that within a week’s time, some of these very same people would be shouting again. This time not “Hosanna!”, but “Crucify!” Their commitment isn’t to Jesus and what He stands for, but rather their loyalty is towards what the “crowd” says is most important at the time.

Reflect on this passage and your own faith journey with Jesus.  Are you loyal to Jesus or to the crowd?

Pray

  • Pray for all of our small group leaders.
  • Pray for our Pastoral Care Pastors, Sharon Harewood and Christine Okken.
  • Pray for our missionary of the week, Eduardo Buldain, Field Coordinator, Hispanics for Christ, Buenos Aires, Argentina. For more than thirty years, Eduardo has been planting churches all across Argentina. In Buenos Aires, Argentina, pastors are being prepared at the Pastor Training Center, which was founded by Eduardo. They have been training pastors since 2009, equipping them for ministry and sending them out to serve in churches across Latin America. Pray for Eduardo and his ministry through Hispanics for Christ.
