John 15:9-17

Reflect

What’s the greatest act of love that you have ever experienced?  What’s the greatest act of love you have ever extended to someone else? “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you.  Now remain in my love…My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.” (vs. 9,12) Jesus didn’t just speak the words; He walked them out practically.  He demonstrated what it looked like to receive love from God and then pass that love on to others.  “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” (v.13) God’s love for us, even in our sinful state, was so strong that He sent Jesus to die for our sins.  Jesus’ love for His Father and for us sent Him to the cross to pay for our sins and allow us to be in a right relationship with God.  How does our love of Jesus play out in our daily lives to those around us?  “As the Father has loved me (Jesus), so have I loved you.”  Who in your life is benefitting from this love?

Pray

  • Pray for all of our small group leaders.
  • Pray for our Pastoral Care Pastors, Sharon Harewood and Christine Okken.
  • Pray for our missionaries of the week, Roger and Carrie Liegmann, WestMOUNT Church, West Kelowna, British Columbia. It was a few years ago that the Liegmanns felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to plant a new church in West Kelowna. Their greatest desire is to proclaim the glory of God and invite people into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. They launched worship services in October 2013. Pray for experienced, mature elders with a heart to train, serve, and equip the body of Christ. Also, pray for volunteers to step up and take ownership in different ministries, especially in web design, video, and graphic design.
