2 Corinthians 1:12-2:4

Reflect

Have you ever had someone you love question not just your actions, but the motivations behind the actions? Did they even attack your integrity? How difficult was it for you to respond? Understanding today’s passage is crucial  in order to comprehend the entire letter. Paul’s entire character is being held in suspicion. The slandering of his name by a few individuals has caused mayhem to the ministry. Loyalty to Paul, and to the ministry through Paul, is being dramatically affected. I love how he opens the passage; he exerts that his conscience is good. Some people with very little conscience do horrible things. However, Paul has pursued holiness (v.12). He has dedicated immense effort to being pure and undefiled. Don’t be fooled; we are not able to earn our holiness (it is gifted by God), but it takes enormous effort to remain holy! How are you addressing areas of your character that God desires for you to submit completely to Him? Prayerfully come before the Lord and ask Him to guide you to be above accusation, and if there is accusation, that even then you would hunger for holiness more than retaliation.
