Reflect
Today we read a series of Proverbs that are all extremely rich. As I have been doing the last few weeks, I once again want to encourage you to read through them slowly and ask the Holy Spirit to highlight one to you today. There’s a saying out there: "If you want to hear God laugh, tell Him your plans." I don’t believe that God ever laughs ‘at us’, but I do believe God’s sovereignty is something that is reflected in who He is. He orders our steps! What stands out to me is verse 24: "All our steps are ordered by the Lord. How then can we understand our own ways?” At the heart of this question is one of Lordship. In our lives there are seasons where it appears that everything is going our way and in the blink of an eye we could be in a season where nothing makes any sense. Our initial response in these times is to question God’s presence and Lordship of our lives. This Proverb gives us permission to surrender Lordship of our lives over to God. It allows us to realize we don’t need to have all the answers. What we need is trust in the good times and trust in the difficult times. Where is God inviting you to trust today?
