Reflect
“There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord” (v.30). We may not be able to relate to the next verse, “the horse is made ready for the day of battle…”, but we can relate to the truth that we can plan all we want, but the bottom line is “victory rests with the Lord” (v.31). This truth is relevant to planning on an individual, family, church, community and worldwide basis. For example, you have often heard Pastor Lyle recognize God’s goodness to us in the renovation of our church facility, as well as petition the Lord for His direction as we move ahead with planning for the fall ministries and changes around our worship services to accommodate the growth we are experiencing. The minute we stop seeking the Lord’s direction and go into our default mode (planning without waiting on God’s direction), we are in trouble as a church.

The same is true for us as individuals/families. As I anticipate retirement in the near future, I trust that God will lead as He has done in the past. My part: keep listening for His voice and not ‘lean on my own understanding’. What challenges are you facing right now? How comfortable are you waiting on Him?
