Reflect
In today’s passage, I’d like us to focus in on verses 4 and 5. I think one of the challenges we face with these verses is that society has put such a high value on the things we own or can do, because we have the money to do them. When we try to keep up with everyone else, we can sometimes begin to rely on our own efforts instead of trusting God for the things we need. Some commentators have helped unpack these verses by saying wealth is fleeting and there should come a point where we need to decide we have enough and put our focus on things that don’t have a financial reward. I also like how 1 Timothy 6:9-10 fits with these verses and gives us a picture of what can happen when we have a wrong focus on money.

Pray
- Pray for all our small group leaders.
- Pray for our Pastoral Care Pastors, Sharon Harewood and Christine Okken.
- Pray for our missionary of the week, Yuri Nakano - NAB Missionary in Japan. Thank you for supporting NAB missions in Japan and especially your prayers. I am currently in Sakai city in the southern Osaka region of the main island in Japan. My main role is to disciple and develop leaders among women, particularly in two churches: Kongo Bible church and Heijo Christian Church. These churches are currently without pastors, but are praying for someone to come and lead these congregations. Please pray for me as I develop deeper relationships with the women of these churches and be a spiritual encouragement to them while they are in this state of transition and in a period of seeking a new pastor. Pray that pastors would be found for these churches. There is much spiritual warfare here, so I covet your prayers for guidance, wisdom and protection.
