Luke 1:55-66

Reflect

Today we read of a prophecy being fulfilled.  A son is born to Zachariah and Elizabeth and they give him the name John.  You have to go back to the beginning of Luke 1 to read how all of this was explained to Zachariah, and we read that because of his doubt, he was mute until after he gave confirmation that his son was to be called John.  What I found interesting as I read this passage was the question the neighbours asked, “What then is this child going to be?  For the Lord’s hand was with him.” The neighbours, because of the circumstances leading up to John’s birth, knew something was different, that God was at work. Let’s fast forward to  today and to your own life.  As a follower of Jesus, you too have the Lord’s hand upon your life.  Do you believe that?  Do the people around you, your family, neighbours, and co-workers, stop and notice that you, like John, are one pointing others to Jesus?

Pray

  • Pray for all our small group leaders.
  • Pray for our Congregational Life Pastors, Sharon Harewood and Christine Okken.
  • Pray for the Alberta Baptist Association. The ABA is made up of 60 churches (from the North American Baptist Conference in the Alberta region), which ‘associate’ together in order ‘to connect and enable churches to impact communities for the growth and advancement of the Kingdom of God, in Alberta and in the world’. To accomplish this purpose, the ABA is currently focusing upon three priorities: serving churches, planting churches, and connecting churches. The staff of the ABA consists of Regional Minister, Jim Leverette, Associate Regional Minister, Terry Fossen, and Administrator, Andrea Schroth.
