Devotional Guide for Saturday, April 21

Luke 18:35-43

Reflect

In today’s passage we have a compelling picture of a man who was desperate for Jesus. It was a blind man who was begging for money at the side of the road. He was so desperate for Jesus that he wouldn’t let the opinions and urging of others for him to be quiet deter him. There was nothing that would stop him. His request was simple; he just wanted to see, and he believed that Jesus could give that to him. And Jesus did.

Have we ever been in a position where we were so desperate for Jesus that nothing would deter us from that mission? Not worrying about what other people thought of us, about social conventions, or about our own insecurities. Have we been at a point where we recognized that all we needed was Jesus and nothing else mattered?

We often put a lot in the way of this, but what would today look like if we started it with the attitude of this blind beggar? “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
