Luke 19:1-10

Reflect

The account of Zacchaeus reminds us that there may be those who we think would never be interested in Jesus, but they deeply want an encounter with Him.  Zacchaeus, as a chief tax collector, was wealthy and was disliked by most of the population.  The disdain of the people came through overcharging taxes in the name of the government.  Unhindered by his lack of popularity, Zacchaeus wanted to see Jesus and took great effort just to watch Him walk by.  It seems that great wealth was not enough to keep Zacchaeus out of that tree.  Jesus noticed, and called out to Zacchaeus, inviting Himself to his home.  Amid much controversy Jesus dined with and brought salvation to the tax collector’s house.

Jesus reminds us He comes to seek out and save the lost.  Are there those who we think would be uninterested in Jesus and His message of salvation whether by their actions or attitudes?  Are there ways that we could help them have an encounter with Jesus?  My prayer is that we will not be a barrier to those who want to and need to see Jesus.
