Luke 24:50-53

Reflect

The ascension of Christ was this bittersweet moment when Jesus returned to the Father, which would have been an awesome sight to see.  However, it meant that Jesus, as the disciples knew Him, would no longer be physically companioning them as they continued the ministry they had been charged with.  In spite of the reality of Jesus’ departure, the disciples returned to Jerusalem with praise in their hearts anticipating the fulfillment of Jesus’ promise of power from on high.

Luke sheds more light on this event in Acts 1 where we are told of the promise of a return in much the same way.  Acts 1:10-11 says, “They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them.  ‘Men of Galilee,’ they said, ‘why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.’ ”

This encourages me that Jesus is going to come back, and when He does it will be in much the same way.  What a glorious sight that will be!  Are you looking forward to the return of the King?

Pray

  • Pray for the Pregnancy Care Centre - We are a place where a woman (or couple) can come and explore their options. We want the client to know there is hope and help. We want the client to know that an abortion is not the quick fix they think it may be. We will walk alongside this client for as long and as often as she needs. For the woman that has chosen abortion and is suffering from grief, unforgiveness, or many of the other negative emotions that can come from that decision, we have a fabulous life changing healing program. We minister to students and youth groups with our WAIT Let’s Talk Sex program, a grade appropriate presentation, presenting abstinence as a healthy choice.
