Devotional Guide for Friday, June 15

1 Samuel 14:15-23

Reflect

There is this fascinating scene in "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” where Indiana has to take a step off a ledge onto an invisible bridge. He has to take a step of faith and believe there is something there even though he can’t see it. Today’s story is kind of like that but involves a WAY bigger step of faith taken by Jonathan and his armour bearer. Yesterday we read of how they decided to take a step of faith (in going to attack the Philistines with only 2 people). Today we read of how God met them as they took that step and worked a mighty miracle, sending the Philistines into confusion and allowing an army of 2 men to defeat an entire garrison! I believe God may be inviting some of us into the type of risk (steps of faith) that will only work out for us if He comes through; the type of steps that see us walking into places where we need to be met by Him! What kind of bold faith is God inviting you into today? What does stepping out look like?
