Devotional Guide for Wednesday, November 7

Acts 25:13-22

Reflect
These last few days have provided ample opportunity to get to know Paul’s character. Truly his courage, convictions and crispness in thought are on display. Since meeting Jesus, Paul has come a long way from being a persecutor of the Way, to be its greatest advocate in word and action. Somewhere along the way, Paul discovered the only name that truly saves is the name of Jesus. However, he also realized that being a Christian is not only a ticket out of hell, but is also having a true desire to be like Jesus, regardless of the consequences. The eternal life of which Jesus speaks is not knowledge about God but an intimately interactive relationship with Him right now! It is not possible that one can truly rely on Jesus for the next life without doing so for this one.

Apply

What barrier is preventing you from being in the likeness of Jesus? If people held something against you, would you claim Jesus rose from the dead? Or might they hold against you a character flaw that Jesus is inviting you to come to Him and be brought to maturity? Jesus continues to live an exciting life. Why not join Him today?
