Acts 27:13-26
Reflect
Paul’s appeal to Caesar had him bound for Rome. Paul had advised the Centurion and ship’s captain against proceeding any further at this time. While it may have been longer than “a three hour tour”, it was supposed to be only a short trip that proved to be disastrous. Days later, after throwing everything but people overboard, all hope was lost. Into this desperate situation Paul received an angelic visitation with a message of hope. Paul began with a bit of a reminder that this could have all been avoided, which may or may not have been graciously received. Paul then shared the good news that, while everything except life would be a total loss, no one would die from their poor choice to set sail. There are times in our life when we make foolish choices, and the consequences are grave. Sometimes our minds are so set on a particular course of action that we do not listen to wise counsel, and we must then accept the results.

Are there plans you are making that may involve integrity in relationships, career decisions, lifestyle choices, character concessions? Have you asked for godly counsel? Will you listen if it does not agree with your desires? What might the loss be if you choose to go against godly counsel?
