GOOD NEWS!
by Bonnie Nikkel

Isaiah 61 announces the mission of the Saviour. It includes binding up broken hearts and bringing freedom, comfort and release.  Isn’t that good news?

But is it possible that we carry more pain than we need to because we do not know how to access this ministry from Jesus?  Can Jesus really heal our broken hearts?

Some people at McKernan are taking Jesus’ promise seriously.  Several small groups are searching the Scriptures and listening to Biblical teaching about the healing power of Jesus. Others are attending a School of Healing and Discipleship sponsored by Ellel Ministries. Here are some of their comments about how encountering Jesus in community is helping them find healing for their broken hearts:
  • When I was very wounded and needed a place where I could find healing and hope, this group and these women were that for me.  I can learn, I can be myself and I can be mentored and prayed for.  As I have found healing, I can offer that to others in my group.
  • I have read John 10:10 often [The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full], but not until I began with Ellel did I really understand who the thief was and how he robs us of the FULL life that Jesus offers.  I thought I just had to try harder but God just wants me to depend on Him, walk with Him and daily choose to listen to Him.  In doing this, He will heal my heart.
  • I had lived for so many years with a heart that was heavy and burdened with guilt and condemnation.  Real breakthrough in my Christian walk never seemed to materialize. In a prayer ministry time, Jesus brought such amazing truth and freedom to my life. I truly never believed my heart could be so light and full of joy and peace.
What a comfort it is to realize that our Saviour’s promise is true.  He extends this gift of healing to each and every one of us. If you would like to pray with the Healing Prayer Team, contact Pastor Sharon for more information.
