WHAT FACILITIES WILL BEST HELP US DO THIS?
by Pastor Lyle
Throughout this ministry year, we have focused on the theme, “Love God – Love Your Neighbour.” As we enter 2011, our church leadership is exploring the question, “What kind of facilities will best help us love God and our neighbour?” Facilities are never an end in themselves, but they do provide the space for intentional and meaningful ministry to take place. As our ministries develop and our facilities age, we need to ask how we can best manage the property God has given us to serve Him and the community in which He has placed us.
To guide our decision-making process, we are doing the following. The Property Projection Team continues to work on developing initial plans that will hopefully be ready to bring to the church by June for preliminary discussions. As part of their planning, this team is also working with sub-teams to explore options for our parking issues and to identify possible locations close to us that might serve our Daycare better than its existing location. Once our initial plans are in place, we hope to conduct a broad feasibility study in the fall with the help of a consultant from our denomination. This will allow us to get a wide range of feedback from our congregation that will either confirm, refine or reject our plans. It is only after this stage that our church membership will make a formal decision regarding what we will do and at what cost.
Obviously, a decision of this magnitude cannot be entered into lightly. Above all, we want to be led by God as we move forward. For this reason, I ask you to pray with us for God’s clear direction. Pray that the Property Projection Team and the Church Board will know God’s leading as we carefully think through the issues and options leading up to our initial plans. Pray that God will be glorified and our church will have unity as we move through this decision-making process. Pray that regardless of the outcome, our facilities continue to be a means to ministry and not an end in themselves.
We welcome your questions and input as we move through this process. Please feel free to talk with any members of the Property Projection Team: Ray Seutter (Chair), Cam Klapstein, Scott Koehn, Eric Peters, Pastor Sam and myself.
