Kyla Mould - Children's Ministry Assistant
My name is Kyla Mould and I am the Children’s Ministry Assistant. I started my journey at McKernan Baptist Church back in 2004 and now 13 years later find myself on staff. I moved from my hometown of Nanaimo, BC to Edmonton to complete my Bachelors of Education after degree. I have known since I was young that I wanted to work with children as a profession. Many influential people in my family and throughout my school years solidified my decision to continue my dream of working with children.
My husband and I met at McKernan and we are thankful to continue our journey here now with our three great kids, two boys and one girl. McKernan feels like home and we are excited to see what God has in store for our family as we grow together in Christ.
My favourite things to do on my own time are being in nature, reading and gardening with my kids and reading on my own whenever I can get a quiet moment. One of my favourite childhood memories is hiking in the Rockies with my grandparents. Being surrounded by so much of God’s beauty takes my breath away every time.
My favourite part of working in Children’s Ministry is seeing the children quiet their hearts before God. I love seeing them authentically connecting with Jesus. It is amazing to see the love they have for God as they honestly share and live out their passion for Christ. I feel very blessed to be on staff here and praise God for His perfect timing and planning in my life.
Greg Garbutt - Adult Ministries Assistant
My name is Greg Garbutt and I've been the Adult Ministries Assistant since September 2014. I worked in another career for 20 years before God called me into the ministry. I am currently a full-time student at Taylor Seminary, planning to complete a Master of Divinity degree by spring 2017, with the intent of becoming a pastor. I married the girl of my dreams, Vivienne, and we have been blessed with three beautiful, kind and talented daughters, Bailey, Cassandra and Brooklyn. Our Sheltie puppy, Malachi, recently increased our family size to six. I gave my life to Jesus when I was 40 and He has been incredibly faithful and kind. Sometimes I still have to pinch myself that God is giving me the opportunity to study theology at a great school and work at my home church. My role at McKernan includes connecting with newcomers, mens ministry and small groups. My favourite part is walking alongside the people of McKernan as we all grow in Christ together. I also love the Oilers, the Blue Jays and golfing. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Prov 3:5-6)
