Young Adults Winter Retreat

Young Adults Winter Retreat, January 10-12, 2020 at Camp Caroline

Registration for the Converge Retreat is open.

Join us for our annual Alberta-wide young adults retreat at Camp Caroline. This retreat is for young adults aged 18 to their mid 30’s (families are welcome to come as well, for children over 2 please email Pastor Daunavan for cost and registration information)  and is open to young adults from different churches, denominations, walks of life, and stages of life (married couples and young children are welcome but there will be no childcare provided).

Expect a lot of time to unwind, engage with God, make good friends, experience powerful times of worship and teaching, play sports and games, and enjoy a beautiful facility located in the heart of the Alberta foothills.

We are expecting higher registration numbers than usual, so please register soon to secure the cheaper rates (the cabins only hold about 120 people, so once they fill up we will be charging the Aspen/hotel rate).

Please contact Pastor Daunavan  or Jessica Hancock if you have any questions.

If you are able to volunteer in any capacity during the weekend, please email Zach Henkel .

Speaker and Theme: Chris Frost, “Renew/Refresh/Revive"

Chris founded Strata Coach Ltd. to be a powerful avenue for people to experience a different kind of life coaching. He brings people to the heart of God, which becomes the foundation from which his clients receive emotional healing and freedom to live their best life.

Our theme this year: “Renew/Refresh/Revive” came out of a time of prayer that we were having as a leadership team for College & Career, asking Jesus what kind of focus He wanted us to take during this retreat. These three words resonated in the hearts of many of our leaders as we want to explore the reality of a God who meets us when we ‘come away’ to be with Him. Our prayer is that we bring our whole selves to this retreat and are able to leave many of our burdens, worries, fears at the feet of Christ and leave renewed, refreshed, and revived!

The Facility and What to Do:

The retreat is very loosely scheduled. Outside of main sessions, there is no formal schedule for the weekend. This gives lots of time for people to build relationships, enjoy the camp, and unwind (yes, if you need to study, there is WiFi at the camp and time built into the weekend for this).

Activities at the camp include a tubing hill, a swimming pool (with hot tub), a gymnasium, proximity (5 minute drive) to skating rinks in Caroline (if you want to play hockey), a beautiful property (for hiking and exploring), a chapel, and buffet style meals. We encourage attendees to bring board games, card games, and things to do with others. Click here for a map of the camp.

Getting there:

We will be organizing a carpool from Edmonton on January 10 from 5:00-6:30. If you are going with a different group but still need a ride (or could give a ride), please consider coming to McKernan Baptist Church (11103 76 Ave.) before heading out to camp. More details about carpool will be sent in later emails.

Lodging

We have two types of lodging: hotel style (called Aspen Lodge) and cabin style (Creekside Lodge).

Upon arrival at camp, room assignment is done on a first-come first-served basis within the room type you booked. This may allow you to be with your friends or get to know some new folks (usually it all works out pretty good). The exception to this will be married couples and families, which we will assign based on room type booked.

Hotel rooms can have up to four people. Each room has full mattresses and an en-suite bathroom.

Cabin style rooms have up to 8 people per room and a bit smaller mattresses, but they are much cheaper than Aspen rooms. (If you are using the student rate, that only counts towards a cabin-style room).

Costs:

All of these rates are to cover the cost of the camp as well as subsidies for leaders and students. If these costs are prohibitive, please email Pastor Daunavan.

Student Rate: $100 (Limited Space available so register soon)

Early Bird Rate (Before January 1):

Cabin $120

Hotel $150

Married Couple $240

Children 3+ please contact Pastor Daunavan for fees

Children 0-2: Free

PLEASE NOTE: After January 1 An Additional 20$ per person will be added to the costs listed above

If you are one of the first 100 people to register, you will be entered into a draw for a 50$ Gift Card to a restaurant of your choice!

McKernan Baptist leaders please contact Daunavan for your rate.
