Marriage Reboot 101, 10:30am-3pm
This marriage seminar will feature teaching from Focus on the Family's Hope Restored program that provides effective tools for couples struggling to break out of unhealthy patterns and connect in a deeper way. It will also provide some helpful ways to reframe the roles, responsibilities and priorities within marriage - that can lead to less pressure and greater safety in the relationship.
Lawrence Schmidt is a professional counselor with a Master's Degree in Counseling and Theological Studies, and a member of the Professional Association of Christian Counsellors and Psychotherapists. He's in private practice as a marriage counselor in Edmonton and also works part-time for Focus on the Family. With a background as a pastor, Lawrence uses a Biblical framework with counseling theory to help couples (and individuals) find their way along paths of healing and renovation. Lawrence has been married for over 30 years and has 3 adult children.
Why Five?: the 5 books of the Psalms as the Mirror to our Lives, 10:30am-noon
The book of Psalms continues to be a source of endless value for Christians and their devotional lives. The fact that there are 5 volumes to the book of Psalms, by contrast, seems bizarre and rather useless! Yet this intentional ordering of the Psalms is meaningful, and a sensitivity toward these 5 books only magnifies the impact the Psalms have in guiding our lives. Come and explore this often-neglected aspect of the church’s favourite prayer book.
Jeremy Greiner, Old Testament Instructor, Mount Carmel Bible College
