ABOUND MINISTRY

As we desire to understand, interact, and advocate for others we have many places to go to learn how to live in healthy relationship with God, one another, and our neighbours.

For many of us, we worship alongside people that we never discuss some of the matters that are most important to us personally. Yes, often our own pride is a major barrier to sharing our struggles; however, perhaps the church could provide opportunities to discuss uncomfortable issues.

Join us as we share the grace, love, and kindness of Jesus as we talk about some important matters.  Certainly, there are far more issues to discuss than we can provide for this short course; however, we’ve pulled together some incredible guides to help us traverse through what could be an intimidating and lonely wilderness. Join us on Wednesday evenings, 7-8:30pm.  No registration is required.

LET'S TALK

Wednesday Evenings
7:00pm in the Chapel

►   About Welcoming LGBT

Feb.21Mark Oestreicher, The Youth Cartel

It’s long past time that we had a generous conversation about how we envision our role in LGBT people embracing Jesus and being involved in our loving community of spiritual transformation.

►   About an Untangle Life: Healing in Your Inner Life and Relationships

Feb.28Pastor Melissa, McKernan Baptist Church

We experience challenges and attack within three areas; the world, the flesh, and the devil. But, there are three tools God has given us to combat and stand against; confession, repentance, and forgiveness.

In this talk, through the lens of the book of James, we will explore applying these tools in a practical manner, allowing Jesus to bring healing into our inner lives and relationships.

►   About Navigating Transitions on Life's Journey

March 6Rob Loane, Vantage Point 3

One research study says that 80% of all adult learning can be attributed to coping with a life transition. Sudden turns, detours, or a Plan B unfolding in our lives offer significant possibilities for discovering who we are, who we are becoming, and how we serve others in Jesus’ name.

We serve a very creative and developmental God who uses life’s disruptions to shape and develop us. What life transitions are you, and those you walk with, currently facing? What is it that you need to let go of, so that God may shape a new beginning for you in 2024?

Join Rob Loane as he invites a conversation about (1) the soul-shaping potential of life transitions and (2) the ways we learn to navigate these disruptive times honestly and faithfully.

►   About Leaving Well

March 13Jessica Ansell, Fit Law

As Christians we are called to not fear death, we can live in the power knowing that Christ has overcome it all. As we think about what leaving this world behind may look like, we should ask ourselves how we can practically provide peace of mind to our loved ones. This session will discuss how preparing a Will, Enduring Power of Attorney, and Personal Directive can each serve to clearly communicate our wishes and be tools to provide guidance to our families.

►   About How Not to Blow Up Your Finances

March 20John Kok, Navigator Financial

Do you ever wonder why in one of the richest countries in the world, and given great opportunities to succeed, so very few people do? Are the times different now? How does being a financial success and being a Christian fit together or does it?

This session is designed to introduce the ten major reasons why people fail financially, and the solutions to turning this situation around.

►   About God Being Crucified

March 27Pastor Dan, McKernan Baptist Church
  Dr. Randal Rauser

The Apostle Paul declared that "God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ" (2 Corinthians 5:19).

But what did the cross achieve, and what does that mean for us today?

In this talk, we will reflect on several images of the atoning work of Christ drawn from the New Testament even as we explore what it means to be people of atonement who bring that reconciling work to a broken world.
