Easter Art Exhibition
2020 Vision of the Christ – McKernan Art as Worship - Easter Exhibition
McKernan Baptist is hosting an art exhibition this Easter! Our heart is to encourage our community, celebrate our artists, and deepen our worship of the Lord at this significant time in our Church calendar. We welcome all McKernan artists of faith in Jesus to share new and recent artwork around the theme: “2020 Vision of the Christ”. To develop this theme we would encourage art related to the passion, death and Resurrection of Christ, and/or how His death and Resurrection has impacted your life and vision. We request that some Scripture passage be attached to your work, or be the inspiration for your work.
- We will accept any original artwork related to this theme in mediums of: pen and ink, pencil, coloured pencil, acrylic, oil, watercolour, pastel, printmaking, photography, digital art or mixed-media. Framed artwork must be between 8”x 10” to approximately 36” x 48”. Special consideration will be given for a limited selection of 3D works of art. Please contact us ahead of time to ensure we can accommodate these submissions.
Individuals can submit up to 3 framed and ready-to-hang pieces for consideration. This will be an adjudicated exhibition, not primarily to judge for artistic “talent”, but more-so to ensure artwork fits within our theme for Easter. Any artists age 12 and older are welcome to enter. While we welcome depictions of the death and passion of Jesus, we recognize our audience will be people of all ages, so we appreciate works without gratuitous violence etc.
Pieces must be submitted for adjudication by email as a digital photo (not the original artwork) to Robin at email@example.com. Please ensure that your project is well lit and uses high quality photography and accurate colour is depicted. Submissions must be received by Friday, March 27 at noon and if accepted, original artwork must be brought into the church office by April 1. The exhibition will run from April 5 – 27th on display in the McKernan Hospitality Area. Two pieces that show exceptional artistry from this Exhibition will be selected for longer display at McKernan with the Artist’s permission.
Please attach both a Scripture Passage for your work as well as an Artist’s description of the theme/symbolism of your piece.
