Devotional Guide for Dec. 3, 2019

Tuesday, December 3

Genesis 3:1-15

Reflect
When asked why he kept “running away”, one of the boys placed in a Chain-of-love home answered that the space, one hectare of fenced in land, wasn’t big enough for him. He preferred the “dangerous” outskirts to the secured, loving area. In our passage, we see Satan tempting Eve by questioning God’s motive and goodness for His instructions. Eve’s desire to act on her own in rebellion, brought sin into the beautiful world that God had made. All He had provided wasn’t enough in her eyes. She wanted the “dangerous” outskirts – that which was forbidden. The result of her sin was that it spread to Adam and all of creation, separating them from God and causing guilt and shame. God set in motion the plan of restoration and redemption that takes place through repentance and confession.

Apply
The “Life Application Bible” says that Satan’s plan for us is:
Doubt – to question God’s Word and goodness.
Discouragement – to look at problems instead of God.
Diversion – to make the wrong things more attractive than the right things.
Defeat – to make you feel like a failure so you don’t even try.
Delay – to put off doing something so that it never gets done.
Think on these, and spend some time confessing.
