Preparation for Sunday, April 5

Luke 19:28-41

Today Pastor Lyle will continue a series of sermons entitled “Seeing Clearly the Songs We Sing,” in which we will look at a number of songs that are a regular part of our Sunday services and reflect on the Biblical themes they develop.  This being Palm Sunday, it is fitting to look more closely at the song “Be Thou My Vision,” where we declare that indeed Jesus is High King of Heaven, though His Kingship goes far deeper than what was expected by those who greeted Him as He entered Jerusalem.  His is a Kingship that deals with the need of our hearts.

Apply

  • What might be some ways we continue to want Jesus to be a King who fixes the problems in our external world instead of first dealing with the issues inside of us?
  • After listening to this morning’s message, how do you believe God is asking you to respond?
  • Ask God to work in the hearts of all who will be watching our service today.

Pray

  • Pray that God would effectively be at work in our church and in all His churches throughout our city today.
  • Pray for our Children’s Ministry Director, Jerilyn Bayer, her interns Bailey Garbutt, Blythe Knapczyk, Emma Chang, Katia Huellstrung, Kesia Silva, Kiersten Moline, Precious Okome, Sunita Faszer, and her Ministry Assistant Annette Faszer.
