Psalm 138

Reflect

Today’s Psalm begins with a bold statement: “I will praise you, O Lord, with all my heart; before the “gods” I will sing your praise.” (v1). David is confessing he believes in God and is stating this in front of the world around him.  In David’s day there were many “gods” that were popular and supposedly better than Yahweh, but David proclaimed that he followed Yahweh.  Our world today is not all that different from David’s time.  There are many who would say there are other options besides God and criticize those who think differently.

Apply

Are you willing and able to boldly proclaim as David did, “I will praise you, O Lord, with all my heart; before the “gods” I will sing your praise”?  Journal your thoughts on today’s passage.

Praise God that the online training with Kenyan children’s ministry leaders went well. Pray for them as they seek to implement what they have learned in the midst of COVID restrictions. Praise God for the positive feedback to our micro-training videos for parents and children's workers through WhatsApp, Facebook, and the 1for50 YouTube channel. Pray that all our 1for50 training initiatives would be Spirit-led. Pray that God will guide us as we begin creating online courses to enhance training opportunities for children's ministry workers. I will be mostly involved in script writing. Pray for discernment as we plan for future (post COVID) children’s ministry training needs.
