Psalm 139

Reflect

One of the deepest desires of our hearts is to be known. As a Dad, I am seeing this more and more as my daughter Ava grows up. "Daddy, look at me!" "Daddy, watch." "Today, I…" We have this innate desire for others to know us, to know our stories, to hear our voices, to care about us. Psalm 139 provides us with the ultimate satisfaction of that desire. We are intimately known and infinitely loved by God. He created us as a master painter creates their masterpiece and He delights in who we are. Not only this, but He is always with us. There is nowhere we can go from His presence! This reality - that He knows us and loves us, that He is with us, is paramount to the relational nature of God. This is why holiness and right living are such a big deal because God does not want anything that would hinder the existence of this relationship! The final verse of this chapter is a prayer for God to reveal anything that may be hindering this love and lead us away from it, back into the arms of our almighty God.
