Isaiah 11:10-16
Reflect
In yesterday’s devotional (vv1-9), we had the opportunity to envision life beyond what we currently experience. In verse 10 of today’s passage Isaiah picks up the pace and sees that there will be a day in which the nations will seek out this root of Jesse, which is Jesus Christ (Rm 15:12). On that day, the place that Jesus rests will be glory (v10). Throughout the Old Testament, when the glory of God is referred to it is brilliant beyond all imagination. Think of the glory that was on top of Mt. Sinai, captivatingly brilliant beyond being able to withstand (Ex 24:17). Think of the glory that filled the temple, so much so that the priests could no longer do their work (1 Kings 8:10-11). Where Jesus rests is glory. There will be a day my friends that we will be absorbed by His glorious presence. But not just us, all the nations side by side. The spiritual atrophy existent in Europe and North America is not evident in many other areas of the world. In many countries today, the nations are inquiring about Jesus. Jesus is not at rest today. He is calling in nations that have come from very different worldviews.

How is Jesus calling you to join Him in sharing the gospel with these nations that He is reaching? How will you forego “rest” today for the sake of the name of Jesus?
