Isaiah 35:1-10

Reflect

This passage talks about the future joy in store for the redeemed. We see a picture of a desert, which is usually dry, barren, and not exploding with colour and joy. Why has this picture changed? Because God will come for us. No matter what “ferocious beast” we are facing, we will one day be overtaken with gladness and joy. One day sorrow and sighing will flee away. In the middle of uncertainty, grief, or loss, it is difficult to picture a time when gladness and joy will pursue us. But God has promised us in His word that He will come for us. He has promised and we can choose to take Him at His word. Knowing what our future reality is, give us eyes to see the joy and gladness in front of us now. We can look for the Kingdom of Heaven breaking through whatever clouds we may be facing today.
