Ephesians 1:15-23

Reflect

I am on WhatsApp with friends from a former Bible study group. We are scattered all over the world, but in prayer we are still connected. Most of the time the messages read, “Please pray for my sickness, for a solution of a problem, for protection etc.” Most are concerns of "the body". With today's prayer that Paul offers for the Ephesians, it struck me how differently his prayers are structured. First, he "does not cease giving thanks" for the saints at Ephesus. Wow! When do I start off giving thanks to God for fellow believers?  How often do I praise the Lord for Christian friends, or for our own McKernan people? Next, Paul approaches God in petition for the church members. His main concern is that they are led by the Spirit in wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God. How do we get to know someone more? By spending time together. The same goes with our LORD! In Bible reading, memorizing His word and prayer--in spending time with Him, our hearts will be enlightened  to know the:

  • hope of His calling
  • riches of the glory of His inheritance
  • greatness of His power

Paul testifies to this power by mentioning that God raised Christ from the dead. The victory is won! We are his body!
Let us pray for each other in this way!
