Mark 11:12-19

Reflect

Have you ever been tempted to buy something based on a photo, but when you went to look at the item in person, you realized the photo didn’t tell the whole story? In fact, it made it look better than it really was. Today we read about Jesus seeing a fig tree in the distance and notices that it is in full leaf. Jesus thinks there might be fruit on the tree due to the outward appearance of leaves. Unfortunately, when Jesus approached the tree, there was no fruit. As I reflect on this picture of the fig tree, I am challenged to reflect on my relationship with Jesus. Do I look good to people from a distance? Am I appearing to do all the appropriate things to appear like I am a committed follower of Jesus but if someone were to take a closer look, would they find evidence of spiritual fruit? These are tough questions, but I believe they are important questions we should be asking ourselves. Take time today to reflect on your walk with God.

Pray
for Kristi TenClay – NAB Cameroon
Kristi is with the Rain Forest International School (RFIS) in Yaoundé, Cameroon where she has been since 2010. The school strives to provide a high quality Christian education (grades 7-12) that will prepare students for the next stage of life. Their primary purpose revolves around meeting the needs of missionary families, but about half of the kids come from beyond the community to include those from both the local community and the greater international community. Pray for Kristi as she is taking some time off work.
