Devotional Guide for Thursday, May 13

Mark 12:28-34

Reflect

Today we read Jesus’ answer to a good question. We often think of the Ten Commandments as being the only ones that existed, but there were more than 600 commandments in the Old Testament. Jesus answered that the most important commandment is to love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. It is a challenge to love God with all areas of our life. But Jesus doesn’t stop there. He adds that the second commandment is we are to love our neighbour as ourselves.

Apply

Of these two “greatest commandments”, where do you find yourself most challenged? Spend time reflecting on Jesus’ answer and ask God to reveal where you are loving the Lord and your neighbour, and where you are holding back.

Pray
for Camp Caroline
The ministry of Camp Caroline exists to encourage first steps in a life-long journey with Jesus; next steps that follow Him faithfully; and servant-leadership that exemplifies His compassion and concern for others. We have missed welcoming campers and guests to camp this last year. It is truly a privilege to serve churches and ministries as they get away for a retreat. As we continue to plan our re-opening, we want to be strategic, and mission driven in our priorities. Pray for wisdom, discernment, and direction as we prayerfully consider how God is continuing to direct us through this season and toward the next. Pray for open doors to offer ministry programming in 2021. Continue praying that God will provide for the needs of the camp. We are so thankful for how God has been meeting the needs of the ministry of Camp Caroline.
