Proverbs 8:12-36

Reflect

Over the last 12 months we have certainly gone through many struggles, and now in mid-July, the strain of massive uncertainties seems much lighter than they were in the recent past. I hope that as you are in mid-summer stride you are intentionally taking the time to re-create.

As we continue to journey through the Proverbs, we again encounter Wisdom. Or as some prefer, Lady Wisdom. Is this the pre-incarnate Jesus? Mother Mary? The Holy Spirit? Lots of people way smarter than me have dedicated a lifetime of research to write their decisions. Whoever it is, I love the way that vv.27-31 provide perspective on what creation was like. This was no boring puzzle building; creation was filled with playful rejoicing and delight. The entire design speaks of robust creativity. All the more reason for us to make certain that, for the well-being of our soul, we immerse ourselves in creation. Both solo and group time in God’s nature provide an opportunity to gain perspective of life’s purpose and ultimate being. There, we encounter that there is Someone greater than humanity and we can have deep connection with Him.

Grab your calendar and plan how you will intentionally rejoice with our Lord in a place a long way away from a screen.
