Proverbs 11:16-31

Reflect

As dorm parents and teachers at an international school, our lives had gotten busy beyond our imagination. Full speed life left me often feeling exhausted, until I read Proverbs 11:25. “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” Soon, it was beaming at me from my pin wall where I could see it all the time. I stopped worrying about myself so much and claimed God’s promise to come true.
Actually, what a paradox! Reading the other verses of today’s Scripture, notice there are quite a few of those paradoxes hidden. At first glance you would expect a generous person should run out of resources, but not in the kingdom of God. A generous person will prosper!  A kind person will gain honour, while in the world’s eyes it is the ruthless, the pushy.  We think the wicked will get away with sneaky ways, but the Bible tells us the opposite. The paradox rules of Gods kingdom fascinate me. You stay pure for marriage. The world says it’s nonsense. The Bible says you will have your reward, etc.

Apply

As you give generously of your time and money, your help, your love and energy and live by His rules, you will discover how God refreshes and nurtures you beyond your imagination. What mystery! Keep your eyes open for spotting God’s blessing on your life.
