Romans 16:1-16
Reflect
“Anyone who receives you receives me, and anyone who receives me receives the Father who sent me. If you receive a prophet as one who speaks for God, you will be given the same reward as a prophet. And if you receive righteous people because of their righteousness, you will be given a reward like theirs. And if you give even a cup of cold water to one of the least of my followers, you will surely be rewarded.” (Matt. 10:40-42 NLT).
The Apostle Paul is seen as a hero of the faith – and yet, according to the above verses there are many people who will receive the same reward as him. In this chapter, Paul greets (acknowledges) them, he references their diligent service (benefactor, co-worker, a “mother”), suffering (risked lives, fellow prisoners), and Christian character (worked hard, faithful).
Billy Graham was once praised by someone who said he would receive a great reward in Heaven for his outstanding evangelism efforts. He in turn said that there would probably be an unknown faithful prayer warrior who would receive an even greater reward.
